Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) is a global movement committed to strengths focussed, place based and community driven development. Across the world, communities, neighbourhoods and their residents have discovered the power of focusing on their assets, capacities and opportunities, as opposed to their needs, deficiencies and limitations. They have begun to act as citizens, rather than accepting the passive roles of clients, customers and consumers of someone else’s development programs and services.
In 2017, 180 people from 21 countries gathered in Goa, India to celebrate an ABCD Festival. Two years on in 2019, the 2nd ABCD Festival occured in Goa, India. Like the first Festival, this is another opportunity to celebrate our efforts to ensure local community action continues to proliferate and flourish. It was another unique opportunity to connect, share and learn with an amazing diversity of ABCD believers and practitioners from across the globe.
Goa is one of the most beautiful and historic destinations in the world. We are hopeful that the ever changing kaleidoscope of vibrant colour and intriguing contrasts of India will weave their magic and mystery into the fabric of your experiences in this fascinating part of the globe.
