Effective Community Building is as Simple as ABCD!
After a five year break due to COVID, the popular ABCD International Festival Goa is being convened once again from 27-30 January 2026, with the theme “Effective Community Building is as Simple as ABCD!’
Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) is a global grassroots community building movement committed to a strengths-focussed, place-based and community-driven development approach. Across the world, communities and their members and groups have discovered the power of focusing on their talents, capacities and opportunities, as opposed to their needs, deficiencies and limitations. They have begun to act as citizens, rather than accepting the passive roles of clients, customers and consumers of someone else’s development programs and services.
The ABCD International Festival Goa was initiated in 2017 when 180 community builders from 21 countries gathered in Goa, India to share, learn and celebrate experiences related to the ABCD approach. A second Festival was held in 2019. Now organisation is underway to create another International ABCD Festival in early 2026 to bring together an amazing diversity of ABCD believers and practitioners from across the globe. Location
Calangute, Goa, India. Goa is one of the most beautiful and historic destinations in the world. We believe that the ever-changing kaleidoscope of vibrant colour and intriguing contrasts of India will once again weave their magic and mystery into the fabric of this event in this fascinating part of the globe.
The Festival will be based at Casa Severina in Calangute (North Goa). Learning experiences that take participants into other parts of Goa will be incorporated into the Festival Program.
Cost
The four-day event will cost AUD$880 (inc. GST) including all meals (including Welcome Sundowner and final Festival Dinner), bus tours and all Festival sessions.
It excludes travel, accommodation and the pre-Festival optional Masterclasses.
